Step 2. Back Up Your Data
It is important to ensure that you have a full backup of your web hosting account before you get ready to move. Be sure to write down any extra information you will need such as your e-mail account settings, MySQL authentication details, passwords and so on.
Step 3. Uploading Your Files
At this point you should be ready to start uploading your website to your new Revolution hosting account. Upload all of your files using the IP address specified in your welcome e-mail and setup all database and configuration options via cPanel. Once done you can test your website by visiting the temporary URL, also found in your welcome e-mail.
Step 4. Updating Your DNS Nameservers
You should have received your DNS name servers in your welcome e-mail, looking something like this:
- dns1.revolutionwebsolutions.com
- dns2.revolutionwebsolutions.com
We will take care of this step for you if you are registering a domain with us or transferring your domain name to us from another registrar.
It takes about 6 to 24 hours for a domain name to propagate worldwide (everyone's ISP receive an update on your website move). For any further assistance feel free to contact us, we will be happy to update your name servers for you.
Step 5. That's All Folks!
After approximately 48 hours, having confirmed your website is accessible online at its new location, you are now able to close your old web hosting account.
We'll Buy Out Your Contract
Feeling trapped in a contract that you have prepaid? Not to worry! We understand your plight and will offer to buy out your contract. This means that we will reimburse you the prepaid amount (not exceeding $50.00) to your previous hosting provider by crediting you that amount. It's really that simple; all you need to do is submit a ticket with your welcome e-mail from your previous host and a copy of your cancellation notice.
